Classes FAQs
Can I still join in the second week if I missed the first week of class?
You may join in the second week for the beginner class. For the intermediate and beyond classes, please reach out to the instructors for missed classes as they move quickly and build upon each other. Consider joining next session when you are unable to attend a majority of the classes.
What are my options if I am no longer able to attend lessons?
We’re sorry you are unable to make it. Reach out and we can look at transferring enrollment to the next session you are available.
Can I take lessons if I’m not a student?
These lessons are for everyone in our community. Everyone is welcome.
Do I need to bring a partner?
We rotate through partners during the classes. Dancing with everyone in the class will help you to learn the dance faster.
Do I have to rotate parters?
Not at all. If you don't wish to rotate partners, just let the instructors know before class begins. However, we do encourage rotation as you will generally learn much faster by dancing with different people.
Am I a lead or a follow?
Entirely up to you! Swing dancing is a partner dance, with both partners contributing equally to create something fun and exciting together. Leads generally create signals for their partners, Follows, who in turn react to those signals.
We encourage you to learn whichever role you are most interested in, or even both! For class balance, we do ask that you stick to the role for the entire set of lessons.
What should I wear?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing you can move in. Classes are active so you might even sweat a little. We recommend flat, comfortable, closed-toe shoes you can turn in. Nothing too slippery and nothing too sticky.
